During the first season, viewers witnessed Lauri's journey from being a single mom to becoming a bride and marrying her third husband, George Peterson. Following her exit from the series, Lauri spoke with the OC Register about her decision to leave the show. Lauri's son, Josh Waring , had been battling drug addiction and was arrested for heroin possession and being under the influence. With that development, she realized she needed to make a change.

Shortly before he was to go to trial facing a possible life prison sentence in connection with a shooting in Costa Mesa that left one person wounded, Joshua Waring made a plea deal Friday that would get him released from jail. Waring pleaded guilty to two felony counts of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury and a felony count of assault with a firearm, along with evading a peace officer, reckless driving and battery. An enhancement allegation of assault with a firearm likely to inflict great bodily injury was dismissed. Two other people escaped injury.
Lauri Peterson from The Real Housewives of Orange County rode off into the sunset with her prince charming when she left the show. The OG cast member was part of the flagship series, debuting as a struggling single mom during her first four seasons of the show.
